Johannes Rahe
Johannes Rahe, born 1950, has conducted for almost 4 decades up to 2012 as Director of the cathedral choir and Succentor a large number of choral groups, mainly consisting of young people and children at the Osnabrück Cathedral. An intensive study of the humanities and of music together with comprehensive research into different forms of vocal expression and differing choral traditions prepared him for this task as a choral and vocal educationalist. With the ensembles „Cantos“ and the „Osnabrück Youth choir, both of which he founded himself, he has won international recognition in journeys throughout the world, at competitions and with CD and media productions.
The openness and variety of his artistic and educational work is documented in his forward-looking, often experimental, unorthodox interpretations and projects as well as through exchange and cooperation with orchestras, choirs and multifarious ensembles from all over the world. He works as a jury member and advisor in national and international choral organizations and as a guest conductor with various amateur and professional ensembles. For his services to international cultural cooperation, he was honoured by the town of Osnabrück with its Citizens’ Medal.
