Anne Kohler
Anne Kohler is professor of choral conducting at the Detmold University of Music. There she directs the university's chamber choir as well as the vocal ensemble "Pop-Up" and supervises a major class of choral conductors. Since 2020, she has been artistic director of the Federal Youth Choir at the German Music Council. She studied school music, conducting and singing and deepened her training in master classes with Eric Ericsson, Frieder Bernius, Volker Hempfling, Tonu Kaljuste, Jens Johansen and members of the "Real Group". She has worked closely with Oliver Gies, Martin Carbow and Jens Johansen.
Guest conductorships and rehearsals for Marcus Creed, Roger Norrington, Pierre Boulez and Ingo Metzmacher led her to the SWR-Vokalensemble, the Berliner Rundfunkchor and the WDR Choir. From 1996 - 2009 she was a lecturer in singing and choral conducting at the Hanover University of Music, where she founded the jazz choir "Vivid Voices". She is internationally active as a leader for courses on choral conducting, voice training and jazz choral conducting as well as a juror. Under the direction of Anne Kohler, the Chamber Choir of the Detmold University of Music as well as the vocal ensemble Pop-Up won several 1st prizes in international and national competitions.
