Kick-off at Marktoberdorf's weekly market and at the Sparkasse bank
To kick off the 18th International Chamber Choir Competition Marktoberdorf, there will again be a traditional singing at the weekly market and in the Sparkasse counter hall in Marktoberdorf. On Friday, 26 May, the singing of the Chandelier Choir from Indonesia will resound between vegetable stands and bread stalls in the middle of the Marktoberdorf weekly market from 10 am. Afterwards, at around 10.30 a.m., the Indonesian choir will sing in the counter hall of the Sparkasse Marktoberdorf. In case of bad weather, the performance on the market square will be cancelled.
The Chandelier Choir under the direction of Ageng Pujarachman was founded in 2014 and is made up of singers from Surabaya, Malang and Jakarta. They are united by the desire to compete at the national and international level. Despite some hurdles, the choir's strong motivation has enabled them to successfully participate in various national and international competitions. Everyone is cordially invited to the choir's public singing on the market square and in the Sparkasse with free admission. The official opening of the International Chamber Choir Competition will also take place on Friday at 8 pm with the Chamber Choir Stuttgart at the MODEON Marktoberdorf.
From Saturday to Sunday, the choirs will sing in the public competition. Parallel evening concerts with the participating choirs will take place from Saturday to Monday throughout the Allgäu and beyond. On Monday, 29 May, at 11.00 a.m., all choir friends are cordially invited to the Singschoppen with Los Cantantes de Manila (Philippines) and Mieskuoro Euga (Finland) in the foyer of the MODEON Marktoberdorf. The announcement of the results and the award ceremony will also take place free of charge on 30 May at 4 pm in the MODEON. The International Chamber Choir Competition Marktoberdorf will end on Tuesday at 7.30 pm with the final CHOIR with all participating choirs.
Advance tickets are available at the Marktoberdorf bookstore Eselsohr, at the service centres of the Allgäuer Zeitung, at all Eventim ticket agencies and at www.kammerchorwettbewerb.org. Remaining tickets can be purchased at the box office.
