Preview of the 19th Marktoberdorf International Chamber Choir Competition 2025

Every two years since 1989, the international choral scene has met in Marktoberdorf over the Whitsun holidays for one of the world's most renowned competitions for chamber choirs. In eighteen competitions to date, over 250 choirs from almost 50 countries have shown what choral music has to offer today in exciting competitions and extraordinary concerts. Both professional and amateur audiences are always enthusiastic. The 19th Marktoberdorf International Chamber Choir Competition will take place from June 6 to 10, 2025.

It is expected that 15 outstanding choirs from countries including the Philippines, Indonesia, the USA, Mexico, Sweden, Latvia, the Czech Republic and Germany will take part. The international choirs will not only compete against each other, but will also give concerts together. These will take place in Waal, Altenstadt, Kempten, Augsburg, Nesselwang, Wildpoldsried, Kaufbeuren, Irsee, Füssen, Memmingen and Marktoberdorf, among others. You can already secure your festival pass at a special price with the “Winter Special”. The “Winter Special” is limited to 100 festival passes and expires on January 31, 2025.

Following the competition, the International Masterclass for Choral Conducting with Conducting Competition will take place at the Bavarian Music Academy Marktoberdorf from June 10 to 14, 2025. It will be led by Prof. Georg Grün (Germany) and Yuval Weinberg (Germany/Israel). The Masterclass is aimed at experienced choral conductors who want to improve their knowledge and skills with outstanding experts at a high level. The choir will be one of the participating choirs of the International Chamber Choir Competition Marktoberdorf.
