Kick-off at the Marktoberdorf weekly market and in the Sparkasse bank

To kick off the 19th Marktoberdorf International Chamber Choir Competition, there will once again be a traditional singing event at the weekly market and in the Sparkasse counter hall in Marktoberdorf. On Friday, June 6, from 10.30 a.m., the Malang ChoralArt from Indonesia will be singing between vegetable stalls and bread stalls in the middle of the Marktoberdorf weekly market. Afterwards, at around 11 a.m., the Indonesian choir will sing in the counter hall of Sparkasse Marktoberdorf. In case of bad weather, the performance on the market square will be canceled.

Malang ChoralArt is an independent choir based in Malang, Indonesia. It was founded with the aim of performing a diverse range of choral music at a high artistic level. The choir consists of outstanding singers of various ages and backgrounds from all over Malang city and surrounding areas. In addition to performing classical choral works, the choir is dedicated to promoting traditional music and premiering original compositions by Indonesian choral composers. Everyone is cordially invited to attend the choir's public singing on the market square and in the Sparkasse, admission is free. The official opening of the International Chamber Choir Competition will also take place on Friday at 7.30 pm with the Züricher Sing-Akademie at MODEON Marktoberdorf. The concert is already sold out.

From Saturday to Sunday, the choirs will sing in the public competition. Parallel evening concerts with the participating choirs will take place from Saturday to Monday throughout the Allgäu, in Augsburg and Munich. On Monday, June 9, at 11 a.m., all choir friends are cordially invited to the Singschoppen with raffle in the marquee next to the MODEON Marktoberdorf. The announcement of the results and award ceremony on June 10 at 4 p.m. will also take place in the MODEON with free admission. The International Chamber Choir Competition Marktoberdorf ends on Tuesday at 7.30 p.m. with the final choir concert with all participating choirs.
