Ana María Raga
Ana Maria Raga is a venezuelan choral conductor. She is also pianist, music composer, arranger and teacher, dedicated to the formation of future choral conductors. Since 1988 she has developed an intense choral conducting activity. Founder of several children and youth choirs. She conducts Aequalis Aurea (female choir) and is Associate Conductor of the Schola Cantorum of Venezuela. Raga has taken composition and choral conducting courses under the tutelage of renowned masters and professors as Alberto Grau, Erkki Pohjola, Helmuth Rilling, and Frieder Bernius. She has won several prizes not only as a choral conductor, but also as a pianist and a composer.
As a guest conductor, clinician and pedagogue Raga has participated in numerous festivals and events in Europe, Asia, North and South America. Raga has guided workshops in America Cantat III (Caracas, 2000), America Cantat V (Cuba, 2007), Europa Cantat Junior IV (Spain, 2005), The Busan Choral Festival and Competition (Korea, 2007), and a number of several workshops in Venezuela. In 2009 she was invited to conduct the World Youth Choir. As a member of the social project led by the international institution CAF (Andean Development Corporation), she has collaborated in the formation and improvement of choirs in Colombia, Ecuador, Bolivia and Perú. As former President of Fundación Aequalis she promotes choral activities in schools and other educational institutions.
