International Masterclass for Choral Conducting with Conducting Competition
10th to 14th June 2025

The International Masterclass for Choral Conducting with Conducting Competition takes place directly after the International Chamber Choir Competition Marktoberdorf. The event is aimed at experienced choral conductors who would like to expand and deepen their knowledge and expertise with outstanding experts at a high level. They should have studied choral conducting/conducting or already be at the end of their studies.

The International Masterclass for Choral Conducting with Conducting Competition will take place from 10th to 14th June 2025 at the Bavarian Music Academy Marktoberdorf.

Schedule / Active and passive participation
20 choir conductors will be invited to the masterclass. It starts on Tuesday, 10th June 2025 at 11:30 am at the Bavarian Music Academy Marktoberdorf. After getting to know each other, there will be a preliminary conducting session, which will determine whether participation in the masterclass will be active or passive. In the daily main choir rehearsals, which are conducted alternately by Prof Georg Grün and Yuval Weinberg, the ten active participants are given the opportunity to conduct the choir themselves. They also take part in the rehearsal preparations and the evening recitals. The passively participating choir conductors observe the rehearsals in the background and analyse them with the other masterclass conductor. They also take part in the evening recitals. On Thursday, 13th June 2025, a further preliminary conducting session will take place, which will determine which four to six conductors will continue to actively participate and thus conduct at the final concert on Saturday, 14th June 2025. The final concert with the presentation of the conducting competition prizes will mark the end of the masterclass. The departure will take place on Sunday, 15th June 2025.

Studio choir
A participating choir from the 19th International Chamber Choir Competition Marktoberdorf will be available as a studio choir for the entire duration of the masterclass.
